Paul Goble grew up in Oxford, England and read everything he could lay his hands on concerning Native Americans. Goble and his wife moved to the Black Hills area of South Dakota in 1977 and remain there to this day. In more than thirty books, Paul has drawn primarily upon traditional stories of the Lakota, Cheyenne, and Blackfoot Native American tribes. His book, The Girl Who Loved Wild Horses, won the Caldecott Medal as the year's best illustrated book for children. Paul has given his original paintings to the South Dakota Art Museum where they are currently on display.
